A little bit of information on Firewood

Remember to order your firewood as early as possible preferably before winter sets in. To ensure your firewood burns as efficiently as possible and at the optimum heat, we recommend that all firewood that is delivered is placed as quickly as possible into a dry covered shelter. It is also advisable to have a floor at a minimum height of the ground as this will prevent moisture being absorbed by the firewood.

Natural burning firewood is the oldest form of home heating. Today's modern fireplaces ensure an efficient well controlled heating source. Many people are unaware that you can get very long burning time out of a modern fireplace by being able to control up or down the amount of heat that is generated. This can ultimately save you the amount of firewood that is burnt. They also provide for a relatively smokeless fireplace which allows for an efficient, hot and cost effective form of home heating.

Remember it is important to keep your home as dry and warm as possible throughout the cold winter months. With the continuing increasing costs of other forms of heating it is good to know firewood has remained relatively cheap and efficient compared to other forms of home heating.

The winter months can be very cold so as well as burning your firewood efficiently, you may like to consider other methods of retaining the heat in your home. These include sufficient thermal lined curtains, draft stops under doors, insulation in the ceiling and under the floor to name just a few.
